Sustainability at our Core
90%+ of our products are produced using recycled materials. From PET plastic to Bamboo Charcoal. We have pioneered the use of new sustainable fabrics in football and will continue to innovate. We are proud to support campaigns that bring global awareness to the climate crisis through sport.

CASE STUDIES
Football and Coffee
Playerlayer worked with Forest Green Rovers to design and developed playing kits made from bamboo, then followed by a kit made from Recycled Coffee Beans. These projects were worlds first and captures the imagination of the industry. FGR also moved away from traditional stripes to the now iconic zebra prints. This kit was featured in the National Football Museums top 10 shirts of all time based on the innovation and environmental awareness impact.
The Last Team on Earth
The Marshall Islands were the last county on earth without an international football team.. Until now. If global temperatures rise by more than 1.5 degrees then some of the islands may become uninhabitable. This could happen as soon as 2030. There is no time to lose. With a goal to eventually become FIFA members, the MISF are building a coaching curriculum for school children on the islands, recruiting eligible males and females for the national team.

Bamboo
Forest Green Rovers, recognised as the “world’s greenest football club” by FIFA unveiled a striking third kit, inspired by and raising vital funds for Sea Shepherd – the international marine wildlife conservation organisation. Created using kit partner PlayerLayer’s revolutionary 50% bamboo charcoal material, the design is inspired by the razzle dazzle camouflage paint job on Sea Shepherd’s flagship vessel, the Steve Irwin – devised to bamboozle on the high seas.
Football for a Cause
Vermont Green Football Club believes Football can be a powerful catalyst for a more environmentally sustainable and socially just world. They are on a mission to build a Football club that reflects these values and embeds environmental justice into its competitive strategy, operational processes, and culture. They are building a club that prioritises the environment in all business decisions impacting local and global communities.
