This remix is drawing inspiration from the hand
painted artworks I used to see at my grandparents
house whenever I visited them as a young Dines. I
fondly remember the vintage calendars, the old
jamaican postage stamps and random beer matt’s
collected in my grandads “random bits draw”.
The endless images of jamaican hummingbirds and
island sketches dotted around the house were things
I remember and was inspired by as a child. I wanted
to remix these together and celebrate a vintage yet
modern twist. A timeless image that represents a
thousand memories. I made sure colours used were
muted adding to that extra layer of vintage aesthetic
to the detail. The “tacky” script font used for the
jamaica title is a tongue in cheek nod to my $3
market t-shirts given to me from my parents and
aunties whenever they went over to the west indies
